Last Tuesday Megan Ellis, Jacob Duell, Ellie Gibble. Tyler Pitre, Kade Campbell and Wyatt Treat participated in Math Options at Penn State Behrend. They learned about the manufacturing process by assembling a prototype airplane one fold per person at a time, and troubleshooting flight problems and making adjustments for further, straighter flights. Students also attended a workshop by National Fuel where they built a pipeline according to set criteria that would allow gas(a marble) to flow through the pipe freely without leaks or obstructions. Finally, they learned about actuarial science and how auto insurance premiums are made through a probability simulation using money and a number cube. It was a great experience for all!
