Legend has it that Coudersport got its name from a Dutchman named Couder who provided funding for a survey of the future port town on the Allegheny River. Thus, it became known as Couder’s Port. And somewhere along the way, no one seems to know when, we picked up the “Coudy” nickname. When you’re Coudy, you know!
