Questions are part of parenting, and we’re here to help when we can. We’ve put together a list of the questions we hear most often so you can find the answers anytime you need them. And of course, we’re standing by when you need us in person.
What are the school hours?
Jr./Sr. High School
7:55 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
How do I register my kindergartener or new student in school?
We are thrilled to welcome new students. Starting at a new school is exciting but can also be a little scary. We’ve made the registration process as simple as possible. Visit our Registration page for everything you need to know to become a Coudy Falcon.
My child will be absent today. What do I need to do?
Please call your child’s school between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. to report the absence and the reason. If we do not receive a call from a parent or guardian, you will receive an automated call informing you of your child’s absence.
What is considered an excused absence?
Valid absences include the following:
Serious illness or death in the immediate family
Emergency medical or dental attention
Absences approved in advance with school principal (job interview, college visits, doctor, and dental appointments, etc.)
Authorized religious holidays
Unexcused (invalid) absences may include the following:
Missing the school bus
Trips not approved in advance
Hunting, fishing, attendance at events (games)
Birthday or other celebrations
My child must take medication during school hours. How do I set this up?
We strongly recommend that medication be given in the home; however, we realize that the health of some children requires that they receive medication during the school day. If it is not possible to arrange medication time intervals outside of school hours, please contact the school nurse at (814) 260-4023.
How do I find out about school cancellations, delayed starts, or early dismissal due to inclement weather or other emergencies?
In case of inclement weather, we kindly request that you do not call the school as our staff will be very busy with other responsibilities related to the school closing. We will announce closings and two-hour delays here on our website, on PBS, and WFRM.
When there is a two-hour delay, our schedule will be:
Grades 7–12: 10:00 a.m. until regular dismissal time.
For everyone’s safety, we cannot permit students in the building until 9:30 a.m.
May my high school student drive to school?
Yes. Students may park on campus as long as they have a parking permit. Permits may be obtained from the front office at the beginning of the school year. Seniors have first dibs at parking registration, followed by juniors and then sophomores. Students must sign for the parking pass and return it at the end of the school year.
Students should remember that parking on school grounds is a privilege and not a right. We may revoke parking permits from students who abuse this privilege.
Is there a dress code?
While we do not require uniforms, we expect our students to take pride in their appearance by dressing appropriately and practicing good hygiene. Students must dress in a manner that does not cause disruption or present a safety hazard. Clothing should not exhibit unsuitable expressions or pictures.
How do I get special accommodations for my physically or mentally challenged child?Every child deserves an education, and we are pleased to provide special education and services. To request a screening to assess your child's needs, please contact our curriculum director at (814) 260-4028 for elementary students and at (814) 260-4025 for secondary students.
