Exceptional Students
No two children are alike, and no two children are at the exact same place academically, physically, or emotionally—and that’s okay! At CASD, we meet our students where they are by ensuring they receive the appropriate assistance and intervention they need to thrive at school.
Gifted Support Program
Our Gifted Support Program meets the needs of mentally gifted students by providing a unique and challenging learning experience through enrichment activities and study units across various subject areas. The overall goals of our gifted program include building self-esteem; developing leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; and applying higher-level thinking to problem solving. (22 PA Code § 16.21)
We identify students with advanced cognitive ability through testing and as determined by a multidisciplinary team evaluation.
Special Education
We provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to children with disabilities who are determined, through the evaluation process, to need special education and related services under IDEA and 22 Pa. School Code §14.
We provide specially designed instruction to children identified with any of the following disability categories under IDEA:
